BChD Pretoria 1992
Theo qualified with the degree BChD in 1992 from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, where he studied as a military student. After working for the South African Defence Force in the prestigious 1 Military Hospital for a year, he bought an upmarket dental practice in Johannesburg, South Africa. His aim was always to deliver excellence in all aspects of his work to his patients.
Since 1998 he decided to limit his practice to Orthodontics and exclusively provide orthodontic treatment, because after six years in practice he realised that this is the part of dentistry he enjoys the most. It is a non-invasive area of practice that changed people’s lives; everyone is just so amazed at their new smiles that it is a pleasure to work.
He relocated to the United Kingdom in 2001 and worked in Essex at a group of practices, dedicated to Orthodontics only. In 2006 he accepted a position at Guildford Orthodontics and Epsom Orthodontics, two Specialist practices in Surrey.
In 2011 he started a UK based Master’s Degree in Orthodontics so as to confirm on the UK Specialist Register his considerable (almost 20 years) experience in providing orthodontic care. Theo is currently in his final year of this programme.
He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the British Dental Association. He is also certified in three different Lingual Orthodontic systems (hidden braces) and in Invisalign. He has extensive experience with all the different types of braces available today, including self-ligating systems and participates enthusiastically in continuing education, earning many more hours of education than required by the GDC to make sure he stays up to date in modern orthodontics.
He is married to Cherie’, an Orthodontic Therapist, and they have two boys, Marco and James. He enjoys photography, activities with the children and reading whenever he gets a chance.
